Lungoi
Lungoi are semiaquatic palu that reside in freshwater lakes and rivers and are best equipped for sitting at the surface of the water to snatch bugs that get too close and fruit that fall in.
In the late summer, lungoi can be found at river mouths and in calm inlets where they spawn. Once the guppeel have grown into lungeel and are ready to leave their tide pools, their parents will come fetch them for the trip upriver to their freshwater homes.
It's said that from time to time, guppeel that are still accustomed to seawater will wander further into the depths...

The pearl on a lungoi's forehead grows until adulthood. Its facial scales, however, continue growing throughout its life, eventually covering the pearl. A particularly ancient lungoi's scales can cover its entire face. Without its sight, an elder lungoi will stop making the journey to the coast and settle into an inland marsh.
